Ulun Danu Beratan Temple compound located in Candikuning
Village, Baturiti Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency. The temple located in the heart
of Bali Island, approximately 50 km north of Denpasar, the capital city of
Bali, on the main road of Denpasar – Singaraja. Geographically located approximately
1200 metres above sea level, surrounded by widely spread landscape with a clean
and fresh air.
The Ulun Danu Beratan consists of five complex of temples
and one Buddhist stupa and has become an important temple for both Hindus and
Buddhist. Those temples are; Penataran Agung Temple, Lingga Petak Temple, Dalem
Purwa Temple, Prajapati Temple, Taman Beji Temple, Stupa Buddha.
As a destination of spiritual journey and ceremony, Ulun
Danu Beratan temple compound is one of nine major temple called “Kahyangan Jagat”
surrounding Bali Island. As a one of the most important temple, Ulun Danu
Beratan temple also become the destination for many Hindus around Bali and also
from outside the island itself to do the spiritual journey and praying to the
Sang Hyang Widhi (Almighty God) to get the peace of mind. Some other also
visiting the temple during the “Pujawali” (ceremonial days) to do the community
service (ngayah) at the temple.
